The Minorite Monastery of St. James
The 12th century monastery with its historic halls is situated between the Old Town Square and Republic Square, in the very centre of Prague. It is a significant Prague landmark which combines architectural styles ranging from Gothic to High Baroque. The monastery is connected with some notable figures from Czech history including John of Bohemia, Elizabeth of Bohemia and Charles IV, Holy Roman Emperor. Social or private events can be held in the either the ornate hall of John of Bohemia, the Gothic cellars, the Gothic arcade passageway, the romantic courtyard garden, the viridarium, or the Gothic cloister.
