Prague State Opera
The Prague State Opera house opened its doors as a Prague German stage in 1888 to the sounds of Richard Wagner’s opera Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg. A host of world renowned artists have worked here since then, including Gustav Mahler, Richard Strauss, Enrico Caruso, Lilli Lehmann and others. Its spacious auditorium and Neo Rococo decoration make it one of the most beautiful opera houses in Europe. Its rich history led the building to being renamed in 1992 to the Prague State Opera. The resplendent rooms of the Prague State Opera are available for hire for social or cultural events.
